![]() When i expect a battle to be tough (especially confronting Kor Mereti or Kor Sestor fleets) i run my capital ships straight into the enemy fleet and then press D to deploy the fighter. ![]() But i only deploy them in battles where i expect to lose some ships: as long as I'm sure my Shield Beetles and Albatrosses can safely handle the brunt of the battle, i keep the fighters safely in the Bactrians and Skeins. They simply offer the most firepower per crewmember - besides the more expensive interceptors. I also love fighters for overheating enemies. Does anyone have any workarounds to this or good fighter tactics to keep them alive?Īlso, what's with not being able to launch remnant fighters/drones if you don't have enough fuel? They don't need it. I’ve noticed I can prepare my fighters with gather commands by launching them in safety and recalling them so they gather again immediately when they're next launched, but I can’t do this in every situation. So in practice, I can only launch fighters when I'm either already outgunning my enemy pretty handily or when I am far enough away I can carefully catch my runaway fighters with appropriate commands before they can themselves get killed. But I can’t even spam the command over and over, because hitting the same command again cancels it, now letting every fighter go and suicide to their hearts’ content. ![]() Fighters only recognize commands while launched, so if I want fighters to gather to me instead of flying off straight into enemy fire to get promptly killed, I have to tell them to gather EACH time one launches (since all launching at once would be too easy). However, the fighter command system is really unfortunate. With the nerf to multiple ramscoops on the same ship, they’re great at overheating enemies with flamethrowers since their ramscoops operate in parallel, and now the inhibitor turret has made it possible for both fighters and drones to safely provide support fire while I keep enemies back with banishers. I’ve had some fun with trying to make fighters viable and useful. ![]()
